Advantages of SelfCustody

Storing your own private keys for your crypto wallet locally provides several advantages, including:

  1. Security: When you store your private keys locally, you have full control over them, and they are not exposed to any third-party services or platforms. This reduces the risk of your private keys being stolen or hacked, which can happen when you store your keys on centralized exchanges or web wallets.
  2. Independence: By storing your private keys locally, you are not dependent on any third-party service to access your funds. You have complete autonomy over your wallet, and you can access your funds at any time without any restrictions or limitations.
  3. Privacy: Storing your private keys locally ensures that your personal information is not shared with any third parties, which protects your privacy. This is important, especially if you value your anonymity and do not want your financial transactions to be traced or monitored.

Overall, storing your own private keys for your crypto wallet locally provides increased security, independence, privacy, and accessibility. It is an excellent way to protect your funds and maintain complete control over your crypto assets.

Usage

To access your wallets, you will create a local log-in password, which will be used to decrypt your wallet data and grant you access.

This password is a critical component of the security system, and it is important to create a strong password that is difficult to guess. The recommended password length is 32-48 characters, including symbols and numbers.

Once you set your password, you cannot change it. Therefore, it is important to choose a password that you can remember easily, but one that is also strong enough to provide adequate protection for your wallet data. Losing this password means that you will permanently lose access to your wallets, and you will need to reinstall the application.

It is essential to note that if you lose your device or the memory of your device is lost, there is no backup for your wallets. In such a situation, you will need to run the application on another device and manually backup your wallets private keys. The easiest way to do this is to paste them the app runningon another device. However, a local backup download feature that enables quick importation is in development and will be available soon.
